Asa Waters Mansion, Millbury, MA

The Blackstone Valley National Heritage Corridor Commission lists the Asa Waters Mansion as "the finest example of Georgian Colonial style in the country." The Mansion is not only one of the most beautiful buildings in Millbury, it has a proud history –part of the "Underground Railroad" during the Civil War, it is registered on the National and State Registers of Historic Places.

This is a family-owned recreational facility nestled in the heart of the John H. Chafee Blackstone Valley National Heritage Corridor in south central Massachusetts. They’ve been catering to families from Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts since 1953. Everyone will enjoy swimming in crystal-clear Whitins Reservoir, riding our waterslides (with unlimited rides!), and relaxing in clean, well-groomed grounds.

Daniels Farmstead, Blackstone, MA

The Daniels Farmstead Foundation, Inc. was founded in 2003 to preserve a unique historical resource that has survived the modern age in tact. This remarkable find is due to the efforts of Doris Daniels King and her family to preserve the Farm's history and legacy. Purgatory Chasm, Sutton, MA

A unique natural landmark, Purgatory Chasm runs for a quarter of a mile between granite walls rising as high as 70 feet. Popular with picnickers and rock-climbers alike, the Chasm is believed to have its origin in the sudden release of dammed-up glacial meltwater near the end of the last Ice Age, approximately 14,000 years ago.

Southwicks Zoo, Mendon, MA

More than a zoo, it's an adventure. Willard House Clock Museum, Grafton, MA

Benjamin Willard began making clocks in his small, rural Massachusetts workshop in 1766. His three younger brothers, Simon, Ephraim and Aaron, quickly learned the trade and began a three-generation clockmaking legacy in the Grafton workshop. Today, over 80 Willard clocks are exhibited in the birthplace and original workshop of the Willard clockmakers, along with family portraits, furnishings and other Willard family heirlooms. Works by all three generations of Willard clockmakers, including famed clockmakers Simon Willard Jr. and Benjamin Franklin Willard, are also displayed.

Tourism is alive and well in the 11 towns that make up the Massachusetts' end of the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. History is kept alive by enthusiastic caretakers of the Valley's treasures. Events are organized to highlight these treasures as well as the natural beauty of our lakes, rivers, agriculture and farms.
