A unique natural landmark, Purgatory Chasm runs for a quarter of a mile between granite walls rising as high as 70 feet. Popular with picnickers and rock-climbers alike, the Chasm is believed to have its origin in the sudden release of dammed-up glacial meltwater near the end of the last Ice Age, approximately 14,000 years ago. There is perhaps no better place to begin to understand the development of the Industrial Revolution in America than here on the banks of the Blackstone River, where it all began 200 years ago. The Visitor Center provides easy access to the trails along restored sections of the Canal and Tow Path.To the south, visitors can follow the canal to the Stanley Woolen Mill. To the north are the Stone Arch bridges and the Goat Hill and King Phillip Trails. Along the trail, hikers will pass the Goat Hill lock - one of forty-eight locks built by the Blackstone Canal Company to move canal boats up and down the 438 foot difference in elevation from Providence to Worcester.

Vaillancourt Folk Art is best known for their hand-painted collectible chalkware figures, which are molded from antique chocolate moulds, and their hand blown glass ornaments which are interpretations of the chalkware figures. Judi Vaillancourt's collection of vintage chocolate moulds is one of the largest collections in the world. The moulds date back to the 19th century when a gift of chocolate was a special treasure and every small European village had a chocolate shop. Today, these moulds are used to create the Vaillancourt chalkware figures that have been hand-painted in Sutton, Massachusetts since 1984.

Benjamin Willard began making clocks in his small, rural Massachusetts workshop in 1766. Today, over 80 Willard clocks are exhibited in the birthplace and original workshop of the Willard clockmakers, along with family portraits, furnishings and other Willard family heirlooms. Works of brothers Franklin and Zabdiel are also documented. Various Willard style clocks include: Turret, Gallery, Skeleton, Tall Case, Regulator, Eddystone Lighthouse, Act of Parliament, Lyre, Massachusetts Shelf, Improved Timepiece and 30-Hour Primitives.
